Jörg Baumgartner studied Mechanical Engineering at Technical University of Darmstadt, graduated in 2005 and finished is PhD-thesis on the fatigue strength assessment of welded joints in 2013. He is working at the Fraunhofer Institute of Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF as scientific expert for the division Structural Durability. In addition, he is heading Working Group 3 within the Commission XIII of the International Institute of Welding, the workshop Numerical Simulation in Structural Durability at the DVM and the working group Design of Welded Structures of the Germany Welding Society DVS.
